Heading Back

PackedFashion Trends & Styles - Polyvore

Packed by acelovesvintage featuring TopShop dresses

I'm heading back to NYC for the weekend either tonight or tomorrow. Still no word on the job but I remain hopeful. I'm not totally sure what my plans are for this weekend but I think the above packing list has them all covered. And yes, this is more or less exactly what I'm packing though I'll admit that the jewelry is all wish list items. My dress for fourth of july is a sailor dress like that one but it's red polka dotted vintage betsy johnson and is my absolute favourite. The rest however is pretty much acurate. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!!

Spring Sprung

Spring dressing confuses me. You never know what the weather will be like, at least here in the cold snowy north you don't. Spring requires preparation and preparation. You could go for the above look and rock your big scarf and plaid and a hat on the chillier days. On a side note, I'm obsessed with her shoes.
Then of course there's the warmer days, as long as there's no rain. And you can go to way these girls did and wear adorable polka dot tights which are subtle but too cute. I especially love them with the romper in the lower picture.
Ah then there is the art of layering, check out the photo on the bottom left. This girl is a layering pro! She's got a long sleeve shirt, a scarf, a short sleeve jacket, pants and cute little oxfords! And to the right we have another spring idea, skirts. I own tons of skirt but for some reason hardly ever wear them. I'm making it my new goal to show my pretty collection of skirt the light of a spring day.
Finally we've got jackets. My personal favourite spring jacket is a leather jacket. It's tough, lightweight and kinda waterproof. Though I've been known to wear my red trench coat if it really pours, the bright color makes me happy.
The other option is a sweater coat and I'm loving this one. Actually, I'm loving everything about this look. The gorgeous blonde messy hair, the coat, the plaid, the high waisted jeans, I love it all.
On those warmer days you can go the way of a blazer like our good friend at Orchid Grey. I love this velvet one cause it keeps you warm and seasonally appropriate but it's also fun and soft.
What are your spring dressing go to's?

The Rain Won't Get to Me

Boston apparently intends to rain for a week straight. Normally this would depress the hell out of me, but I'm refusing to let it keep me down. Check out this couple, they didn't even let the rain bug them on their wedding day and look how cute they are!
Plus, umbrellas can look pretty chic, especially when paired with a classy skirt.
How do you keep your spirits up in the rain?

The Five Shoes Every Girl Needs

Everyone has their go to shoes, mine happen to beat a rather beat up pair of black studded ballet flats bought a few years ago at an Aldo clearance. I love them. But there are five pairs of shoes that in this bloggers humble opinion, everyone should own. These are my top five...

1) Ballet Flats
But not just any ballet flats, a really, really fantastic pair. I chose these cute leopard ones from Gap, but it can be any pair as long as they're a bit out of the ordinary. I'm a fan of wacky colors or patters, and I frequently treat them as neutrals.

2) Killer Heels
Obviously a killer pair of heels are essential. But this is the pair that you can dance in all night but still manage to make you feel like a goddess. The pair that when you put them on you prance around your house like a pinup girl, this is that pair.

3) Everyday Boots
About nine months out of the year I live in flat boots. I love them, mine are generally vintage and scored at my local Goodwill. Flat boots are perfect with jeans, leggings, dresses, skirts, pretty much everything. Next to my ballet flats, they are my go to footwear.

4) Converse
OK, so this is just basically a casual but cool sneaker of some kind. My preference is converse, they are the ideal show going, errands running, everyday shoe. I'm a fan of grey since it looks a little less angsty teen, but any color is good, I'm also a big fan of maroon. Keds work equally as well in this department.

5) Hot Sandals
This past summer I destroyed my beloved pair of target, braided, gold sandals. Litterally, I mourned. Gold sandals are great for summer, they show off cute toes, go with pretty much everything and have an ability to make you feel like a Greek goddess. Plus they make legs look longer.

Am I missing one of your essentials? What are they?

New Years Rock and Roll

OK, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me figure out what to wear for New Years Eve.

Here's the deal, my roommate and I are going to a bit of a crazy New Years night. My old boss is in a Guns and Roses cover band, don't laugh, which is actually pretty legit. They've been on Letterman and they're rated like the top in the country and the band is made up of musicians from Takka Takka and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. It's also just a crazy, loud, drunken night of debauchery. And since my past New Years have gone epic-ly bad I've decided that crazy is the better way to go.

What I need from you is to help me figure out what to wear...beginning with the above leggings. Please keep in mind that I have a limited budget, sooo either things that are cheap or could be found cheap. Feel free to use polyvore or whatever you like best and feel free to email me or comment. OK guys, get to it!

Fall Outfit Inspiration

I love the combos of gray and white and mint in this with black accents. The gorgeous long rocking horse charm is also just amazing. I'm currently coveting a circle scarf like that, I'm hoping to grab one(maybe on sale?) from American Eagle, they have some very charming crocheted ones.
This is just too sweet. I love the summery dress with the cutsey knit hat and the ivy league professor style grandpa cardi and briefcase. The background is super sweet too. The loose, simple hair is the perfect touch.

Outfit Inspiration

I love this adorable and slightly tarty but perfectly fall outfit. I love the black dress and the super high slightly sheer socks with the rugged boots. Topped off with that sweet little hat and that scarf? I adore it. What do you guys think? Got great inspiration pics? Send them my way!

The Layering Debacle

I am not very good at winter dressing. I admit it, I'm pretty good in summer, I'm decent in fall. But once the weather turns chilly I'll admit, my yearning to pull on some uggs and a sweatshirt gets pretty strong.
I've always admired stylishly layered girls who look both cozy and cute but I've never known how to achieve that look. I've got all the components, it's just assembling the look that's tricky.
So my question is this, how do you keep warm but stylish in the winter? And how do you layer without looking like the pillsbury dough boy? Anyone got tips for me? Links to great layering options are also welcome.

Rain Rain Go Away

I'm so tired of rain.  I'm ready for itty bitty shorts and cutsey red shoes.  Is it nice where you are yet?  Are you drowning in this new East Coast Seattle?  What are you looking forward to wearing when the rain stops, or what are you loving wearing right now(you lucky bitch)?

Right Now I Love: Cowboy Boots and Dresses?

Now, I don't know how I feel about cowboy boots with dresses.  It feels a bit cheesy like Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus but none the less I am intrigued.  I've been seeing a lot of wedding dresses with cowboy boots lately and if that's your style I think it's really really cute.  Well, I was inspired by this lovely lady on Lookbook.nu, which might I add is a sight that both tortures and inspires me.  I put together this little set, now, I'm fond of white dresses with cowboy boots but I included a simple blue one as well.  As far as accessories I think they need to be super super simple.  I love this feather cuff from American Eagle.  I would wear that with anything.  What do you think, cowboy boots and dresses yay or ney?

I Can't, But You Should

So, Little Miss Kitty Bear is brokety broke.  Not going to lie.  But that doesn't stop me from trolling ebay looking at all the pretty things.  Well let me tell you there is a serious cache of cute, adorable, covet-able rompers on ebay.  Some are too big for me, some too expensive, ok all too expensive.  But that doesn't mean you can't buy them!  I've posted the pics and links to my favs so get to bidding.  And if you win, send me a pic???

I'm actually having a mini love seizure looking at this one with it's perfect peter pan color and cutsie pockets and buttons.  Also, it's so gorgeously red!  This would be too cute with sweet little heels and a parasol!  It's a size 7/8.
mmm, I love polka dots.  This has a cute forties vibe, I would love it with some big glamorous sunglasses and a belt.  It's a size 9/10.
This one looks so comfy and perfect for lounging on the beach or hanging by the pool.  It's got teeny tiny stripes and cute white bands around the legs, arms and neck.  I also love the built in belt.
I happen to think that this is too cute.  I love pin up style and think it's so fresh and feminine.  This one is a size small and would look gorgeous with wedges and cute sunglasses.
I'm actually convulsing.  Seriously, will someone just buy this for me?  It's a size xs and the buttons are actually breaking my heart.  The neckline is cutesy and playful and the straps cross and button in the back.  So cute, I'm actually dying.

P.S.  There is a weardrobe romper contest going on right now! I'm so psychic.  Get thee to bidding, you could win a $50 UO giftcard!

What You're Wearing- Flickr

This is lovely, it's from the flicker stream of Vitamin in Motion.  I think it's so dreamy and fun.  Her slide show is incredible and I highly encourage you to check it out.  I'm so jealous of the ability to pull off over the knee socks without coming off as a tarty teenager the way I do.

What You're Wearing- The Snail and The Cyclops

OK, this one is kind of cheating since this is from The Snail and The Cyclops last summer, and was possibly stolen from Beyond Boston Chic.  But I love it!  I adore high waisted shorts and you know how I feel about keds.  Also, I don't know if that Bob Dylan-esque gentleman she's with is her boyfriend or not, but if he is, I'm jealous.

What You're Wearing-Wardrobe Remix

OK, this is a totally gratuitous what you're wearing post because I covet that dress.  I almost bought it at H&M and passed at the last minute.  I'm regretting that ever so much now because this lovely lady makes it look darling.  It was posted by Little Miss Birthday on flikr.  Too cute.

What You're Wearing-Wardrobe Remix

This is a series I'm calling "what you're wearing" where I pick an outfit from a blog or fashion site to praise.  This one is from Wardrobe Remix by a lovely user called Rusaleczka.  I think it's just perfectly romantic with the subtle pattern and the pretty capelet.  I also love that its shot in front of that crazy huge old door.  Have a friend you think I should put on what you're wearing, or maybe you've got an outfit you love you think should be on here?  Let me know!
